Today, we didn't have Lawrence with us, so we took the opportunity to apply the ABM treaty (Anything But Midgard!) and got out my Arab - Israeli variant of What a Tanker!!!.
As we last played the Egyptian front 1967 several times, I thought we would try the Syrian front again.
My Terrain...not quite Kuneitra!
In our first game, my solo system ran 3 M51 Isherman tanks, all sporting the French 105mm gun! The one opposite my Syrian SU-100 got a brilliant initial die roll, spotted me, and got a shot..
My SU Exploded!!! Quick game!!!
Phil advanced to cover in our centre.
On the far flank, another M51 spotted Rhoderick's SU...
It missed!
Rhod rapidly moved into cover behind a building.
I took over the M51 that had killed me, so raced down the now undefended flank.
Phil and the centre M51 were trading shots.
The left M51 pushed forward to engage either Phil or Rhods' SU.
The left hand M51 also pushed forward.
Rhod's SU was hiding behind a house as was Phil.
I got round Phil's flank and fired
I got a solid hit on him and he burnt!
My M51 advanced again.
Rhod should have tried to escape as his 2 friends were destroyed, but he fancied a fighting retreat!
Phil had taken over the middle M51 and it was hit with a point of temporary damage (IE the crew was shaken up!)
As the M51s advanced, Rhod retreated his SU towards the table edge.
I tried to get round the town and kill him!
Phil tried too, but didn't quite get there!
Rhod escaped back to Damascus!
The second game:
We switched sides and got out my tiddly AMX-13s!
We tried fighting a couple of Syrian BMP-1s.
I realised it was better to get close to the BMP's so they could not use their Sagger ATGM's. Phil advanced rapidly in the centre.
He got into cover, BMP's have a 73mm gun too!
I raced round the flank, also keeping to cover.
I got a shot at one, which damaged its running gear.
The other BMP spotted Rhod and fired...
The AMX, with all the armour of an egg, was lucky, it missed!
I raced round the flank of the wounded BMP!
It soon had more damage Phil hit its running gear again and I hit its optics!
Rhod had got round the flank of the other BMP and hit it!
It also had running gear damage.
The next turn, Rhod hit it properly!
Phil was still shooting at the last BMP.
A further hit in its Running Gear!
Its tracks broken, it wasn't getting away!
I got the last shot...
Another dead crew!
The Third game:
The sun came out for this game! We used our AMX-13s again!
We played down the table this time...
Our opponent - a T-55, It outpointed us a lot, were we going to be toast?
Rhod, in the centre, raced across the gap between two buildings, shooting as he passed the gap!
Unfortunately, he missed!
The Syrian moved forward menacingly!
...but it didn't manage to acquire us!
Rhod was sitting behind his building, waiting to get another run across the gap!
I raced down the flank, and reversed into a field.
Rhod raced across the gap, fired...
...and made it back into cover!
Phil was able to get behind the T-55 on our left, but wasn't able to fire.
I moved from my field round the next...
I easily acquired and spotted, and got a shot...
Throwing 6 D6's I got 5 hits, The T-55 had 10 defence, and only saved 2!
Amazingly I blew it up with an incredibly lucky hit!
Ah well, not a good day for Assad's Syrians! But fun!
