Prussian revenge?

Today, we had another Seven Years War game, and I took the opportunity to try and get revenge for my defeat at the hands of the dastardly Russians last game.

Things started off badly for the Prussians, with my awful die rolls for reconnaissance and deployment. The Russians got to deploy in both flank sectors, while my Prussians  were stuck in the central sector.

The Prussian line, with cavalry behind each infantry wing.
The Russian right, Light horse supported by heavy cavalry.
Their centre had Grenadiers behind a line of musketeers.
Their left had two regiments of Cuirassiers a regiment of Dragoons, and a regiment of Horse Grenadiers.
The battlefield at the game's start.
My next bit of bad luck - my brigadier quality (All those yellow dice show the brigadier to be incompetent!)
My opponents had all average, apart from the left wing cavalry commander, who was Brave and Competent!)
Naturally, this Cavalry general had his Cuirassiers on the move very quickly.
The Horse grenadiers moved up in their support.
I was glad I had my cavalry in line already to move against them!
The Russian infantry passed into the wood before them.
On their centre right, a single line of battalions moved to engage me.
The right wing horse moved forward slowly...
...giving space for their light horse to push round my left wing!
My left wing commander managed to get some Kuirassiers to protect the guns, Hussar regiment 1 deployed out to face the Kalmyks.
My left wing infantry, Grenadiers and fusiliers, began to deploy out.
The Frei Korps and a regiment of musketeers advanced to counter the enemy in that wood.
My incompetent right wing commander only got one regiment of Kuirassiers out to face the Russians.
Regiment Novotróitskiy thundered into them, catching them while they manoeuvered...
...My regiment survived, but retreated in disorder from the melee, while regiment Novotróitskiy rallied in place.
My Grenadiers got the best of the initial firefight with the line of Russian infantry.
Even Frei infantrie von Mayr  managed to disorder the Corps of Observation grenadiers as they exited the woods!
Once halted, they even started causing casualties. The Russians were saving their 'First Fire' bonus for my following musketeers.
My grenadiers were still holding on even though the failure of my centre infantry commanders (incompetents!) to advance in their support allowed the Russians to envelop my line!
The Russian guns got a good volley of canister shot into my Grenadiers, but they held! Brave men!
My left wing Kuirassier regiment, having driven off the Russian light cavalry, now tried to drive their supporting Cuirassiers off the hill, but they were beaten - again the vaunted Prussian Kuirassiers had failed to beat inferior opposition!!!!
Finally! - one of my useless centre commanders advanced a regiment which advanced onto the flank of the Russians enfilading my Grenadiers...
The Russians were shredded, and fell back in disorder.
The Corps of Observation grenadiers had exited the wood, driving off the Frei Korps, their volley badly damaged one of my battalions, but their return fire equally damaged the Grenadiers! - this routed them! as they fled they caused their following musketeers to retreat from the wood too!
Regiment Novotróitskiy now attacked the dragoons, who had failed to advance in support of my beaten right wing Kuirassiers...
 Naturally, the Russians routed them!
The end of the game...The Russian Cuirassiers had routed my men off the hill, though I had reserves to help.
On the right, Russian Grenadiers had moved round the wood and were now, supported by the rest of the Russian left wing cavalry, threatening the right flank of my infantry...
...Ah well, another defeat. But...

Secura-ing a victory?

Today, we did, at David's request, a Star Wars skirmish game.
I have redone the Portal markers, with different values (1-4) to make the battlefield more unpredictable!

The Scenario:

Waxer and Boil, two ARF troopers, have stolen a new and highly secret Seppy communication encoder chip, but have reported they are now hiding in an industrial complex, trying to evade droid forces searching for them and the missing chip...

The Republic organizes  an elite strike force to extract the clones.

The complex, from the Republic deployment area.
 ..and from the other side!
Yoda (run by Lawrence) and his 3 clone bodyguards.
Aayla Secura, run by Rhys, and Quinlan Vos, run again by Phil.
David had Captain Rex and 8 clones of the 501st.
 Vos decided to probe ahead...
...the rest of the force awaited his report.
Soon, the whole force had joined Vos, and planned their attack.
2 Destroyer droids (Droidekas) came hurtling towards them.
They were vulnerable moving, as they could not shield while doing so.
The Clones fired, damaging one of them.
Unfortunately, another two appeared on the left of the Republic position.
Rex had his men take to the roof of a large building, but they were unable to hurt the shielded Droidekas.
Aayla, from behind a container, reached out with The Force and smashed one of the machines into a rock, destroying it.
Quinlan Vos Force ran to destroy the others from the rear.
The Separatists, now alerted, sent some Battle droids to help the last Droideka.
Soon, the Droideka and the Battle Droids were facing Rex.
Aayla stepped out, looking to see if any more reinforcements were on their way!
Rex was doing fine, 2 of the Battle droids were damaged.
Two more Droidekas came rumbling down the street! How many is this now?!!
Even Rex was getting worried at this point!
The clones were keeping up a good level of fire...
 ...under Rex's calm leadership.
Yoda's clones had advanced to support Rex, Aayla took out one of the Droidekas.
 ANOTHER two appeared!
Aayla had to put helping Rex on hold !
She stepped forward before the Droidekas could shoot...
...and destroyed them both with ease!
Behind the Droidekas, Aayla was horrified to see no less an adversary than General Grievous and four Magna-droid bodyguards.
Quinlan Vos had been quietly slipping past the battle looking for the hidden ARF clones, but the General spotted Vos and led the Magna-droids into an attack on him.
Vos force jumped to a nearby roof just in time!
He left Grievous and the droids looking where he had jumped to!!!
Aayla now Force jumped alongside him!
Rex and the boys were still holding back the Battle droids.
 Yoda now came forward.
The Battle droid commander now fell.
Yoda jumped to engage the Droidekas.
What Droidekas? Destroyed are they!
Vos stayed hidden on the rooftop.
Aayla force jumped to another building, and began systematically searching through it, floor to floor.
Off on the flank, some Super battle droids now attacked...
...supported by some more Battle droids.
One even appeared on a STAP.
...then a second!. You wait for one and two come along together!!!
Yoda now attacked one of Grievous's bodyguards.
Vos Force jumped to engage one of the STAPs.
Another fell to Rex's clones!
Exit two STAPs!
Yoda had made short work of the Magna-droid.
More Battle droids were appearing after the first group.
Rex's men were starting to get pinned by the fire.
Yoda cut through two more bodyguards.
Vos attacked the other, poor Grievous didn't know where to turn!
General Grievous: Ah...Vos! - I have so much wanted to meet YOU!
Yoda: And most pleased to meet you too, am I!
Although their armour saved them from injury, very few clones were firing back at the Super battle droids.
 They were making headway!
Grievous and the Magna-guard held up the two Jedi with apparent ease!
Two more Droidekas arrived to support the Super battle droids!
Vos managed to destroy the Magna-guard.
Soon, even Aayla joined in the fight against a beleaguered Grievous!
Aayla had found Waxer and Boil in the basement of the building she had searched.
In desperation, one of the clones tried a grenade.
Only one Super battle droid was damaged.
 More Battle droids were arriving!
With the help of the Droidekas, several of Rex's men were killed!
The droid army looked set to overrun his position!
The Jedi won! - a badly damaged General Grievous scuttled away to safety!
Yoda: Leave him, we must. To aid our clones, or duty is now!

Yoda, Vos and Aayla Secura combined their Force to smash the attacking force into the wall of a buiding!
Vos thought he heard something and jumped into a tree...
Yoda casually swiped more Battle droids into the wall!
Waxer and Boil now caught up with Yoda and Aayla.
Vos had spotted something, a wave of Battle droids!
...Many of them Super battle droids!
Forming a compact group, Vos lead the Jedi away from the onslaught.
Rex and the remaining clones joined them.
Easily evading the Battle droids, the heroic party retreated out of sight...
...to safety!

That was a very intense game. Having 3 Jedi made it easier than it should have been, but there you go!
