Our D-Day games (s)

We decided to remember and honour the heroes who fought in the Normandy campaign with today's game.

We played our favourite WW2 game, What a Tanker by 2FL.

We (Phil, Lawrence and myself) took Shermans - which with my points system was matched by a Panzer IVH and a Stug IIIG.

The table, mostly dressed by Lawrence, I just supplied the fields!

The Pzkw IV - resplendent in its Schürzen!
To its right, the sneaky StuG III.
My Sherman (53)
Phil deployed in the centre, in a wood!
Lawrence was on the right with 54.
We are on the near side in this pic.
I was busy taking pics of the terrain when Lawrence started, by running down the road, onto the flank of the Pzkw IV...
It had raced forward at great speed, Lawrence threw dice worthy of Phil!!!
The German tank was no more! ... (The StuG made a hasty retreat off table!)
...  so we reset the game and tried again!
The StuG went forward towards me, looking for an ambush position.
I got a lot of moves, and got to cover.
I couldn't see the StuG though!
The Pzkw IV moved forward, keeping to cover.
Lawrence went round the flank again.
Phil had finally got through the wood.
The Panzer spotted him and loosed a round...
It exploded near, upsetting the crew!
1 Temporary damage!
I decided to stay in cover and wait for the StuG.
My first round missed.
I was worried, the StuG was a very dangerous opponent.
Phil moved forward to get a shot at the Panzer.
It was skulking in the edge of a wood.
Lawrence continued to careen round the flank.
The Panzer spotted Phil.
Phil shot and missed, The Panzer hit!
Phil's tank had Track damage, but he survived.
The StuG and I were trading occasional shots.
You can just see Lawrence coming round the rear of the Panzer.
He was in a great position as the Germans were still unaware of him.
The StuG was happy to stay in its current place.
My tank was nearly hit and fell back.
Lawrence got into the Panzer's rear.
Phil was in cover to its front.
The StuG decided to attack, and shot my tank!
I too was hit in the running gear!
I, although damaged, managed to revers into a field.
My shot bounced off the StuG, but it panicked the crew.
The Panzer was in a very poor position now.
This turn, the StuG and I chose just to glower at each other!
Phil fired at the Panzer.
It had become aware of Lawrence behind and turned, but Phil hit it in the rear.
It was hit in the tracks too.
Lawrence shot at the Panzer...
...and managed to upset the crew.
I managed to stay alive, but the StuG was getting very close to hitting me!
The Panzer fired at Lawrence, but only hit the trees!
Phil fired accurately again...
...and again hit it in the tracks!
The Panzer was in pretty bad shape!
But Phil wasn't finished, he got a second shot!...
...The Panzer exploded, killing the crew.
I decided to try and retreat further from the StuG, but got a shooting die...
What do you know, I hit and destroyed the StuG too!!!
Well, that was a tough game for me, I think Phil and Lawrence had an easier one, but either of the Germans vehicles could have destroyed us at any time! We were lucky!
