Today we had a return to the Western Front in WW1 - well, its nearly Remembrance day in the UK!
We used a mix of late war planes and randomly generated some Fokker DRIs for my AI to command, as opposition.
The opposition, including The Red Baron!
Phil used the Sopwith Snipe, Lawrence the Spad XIII...
...Rhod had the SE5a, and I had the Sopwith Triplane.
Not often I get the chance to use this excellent scout!
The 2 lines closed, Rhod got the worst of a nose to nose with the Green Tripe. I sideslipped to avoid being caught between 2 DRI's.
The Baron took on both the Spad and the Snipe! - Show off!
He managed to evade the two faster planes easily!
Elsewhere, Rhod and I passed the 3 Triplanes.
The British Immelmanned onto Richtofen's tail, but only caused light damage before the Snipe's guns jammed!
Rhod and I Immelmanned to return to fight the Boche Triplanes.
However, two of them decided to help the Baron!
The Spad went to meet them and the first fire killed the German pilot!
The Boche fell to earth like a falling leaf!
The Snipe got onto the Baron's tail, but his guns were still jammed!
Rhod and a Fokker took heavy damage in a confused fur ball!
I used my Triplane's speed and maneuverability to get onto the tail of this Fokker.
Elsewhere, the two Fokkers were managing to evade the other Entente players.
My Triplane managed to catch the Fokker as it tried to turn on me.
I managed to keep on it, but less effectively!
Rhod's SE Immelmanned and got a good hit on the white Fokker.
I managed to fool my enemy to go the wrong way, as I planned to join the main battle!
The Baron was flying well!
The Snipe got onto a loose tail on the white Fokker.
Using the SE as cover, the Baron hit the Spad, fortunately not badly.
He then evaded, and put himself in good position to engage the Snipe.
I turned sharply to race back to take on the Baron!
The poor SE got badly out of position.
My Fokker Immelmanned to engage me, but I was away.
It looked as though I would get clean away...
My next turn I chose the wrong cards, and turned back towards the stripy Fokker- Doh!
Rhod turned back to re-engage.
The Baron was almost flying rings round the Spad and Snipe!!!
Pride cometh before a fall!
Rhod and I were in the wilderness, far from the action.
I did consider re- attacking the stripy Fokker?!
But no, I turned to engage the white Fokker.
Stripey was now turning to follow me!
Rhod was now powering back too!
The White Fokker was acting as a good wingman to the Baron...
...but the Snipe got through, the Baron was lucky not to take any damage!
Rhod was slowly re-engaging, it always takes forever when you get out of position!
I was outrunning the Stripy Fokker.
The Baron was making it difficult for the pursuing Snipe!
Rhod got there! and missed! The Spad missed the white Fokker too!
I dived into the melee!
(blurry, sorry!) Lawrence jammed his guns again but damaged the Baron, but it was the Baron and my Triplane which did the most damage!
We rapidly parted, licking our wounds!
I Immelmanned to rapidly re-engage, but the Baron foresaw this and caught me as I turned, I had a small engine fire!!!
As I passed, the Stripy Fokker attacked me too, but I got the best of the exchange, Phil's Spad got onto the White Fokker's tail!
The turn end, the fire caused another point of damage to me!
The White Fokker turned to allow the Spad to overshoot.
Just out of firing arc!
I got past the Stripy Fokker.
White was now on the Spad's tail!
The Baron got a good exchange with the poor Snipe, while I Immelmanned on Stripy!
Stripy Fokker went down in flames!
With 50% losses, the Germans escaped!
A fun game, I was down to 4 damage, and a lot of the planes on both sides were pretty shot up!
