Tiger hunt

Today, we did WW2 'What a Tanker' at the club as we had a lot of players to accommodate!

Between Lawrence and myself we managed to bring a fair amount of terrain down to represent northern Europe.

The field of battle.

Phil wanted to use a Tiger II, so he got it!
IPhil, Lawrence, Mick, Jim and myself would play the Allies. The Tiger began by crossing a field, looking suitably impervious!
My M4 was soon crossing hedgerows in an attempt to get round the flank of the German.
2 other Shermans and a Challenger made up our force.
Phil's Tiger was trying to get into a position to keep his front armour to as many tanks as possible.
All of our 75mm Shermans moved to outflank the Tiger, hoping it wouldn't acquire any of us!!!
The Challenger was slowly skirting a stone wall, hoping its 17pdr would eventually get a good shot off, it was our best hope of killing the German.
An overview of the action at this point.
Lawrence managed to see the Tiger across a couple of hedgerows, and fired! He was using an American M4A1 with a 76mm gun.
Unfortunately the shot missed, only serving to alert the Tiger to our presence!
Our Shermans were still moving through the mass of fields.
The Challenger changed tack, and started up the tarmac road.
The Tiger moved to cover to look for the American tank.
We hoped his preoccupation with the M4A1 would allow our little tanks to get into his flank arc, where even our little guns might damage the big German.
Eventually the Tiger got a shot off, but he missed too!
I decided to move toward the Tiger, allowing my fellow M4s to continue round its flank.
Lawrence got another shot at the Tiger...
...he got a hit! - Which damaged its optics!
After that shot, he drove behind a low hill to safety.
Meanwhile, the Challenger got into a good firing position.
The Tiger started searching for it.
Lawrence's M4A1 had emerged from behind the hill again and got a hit again, though the wall took most of the impact!
The M4s now turned to shoot at the Tiger's flank.
The Challenger got a firing solution at last...
The Shermans kept maneuvering to get a good position to shoot.

The damaged Tiger was struggling to get a target.
Lawrence was popping out from the hill, shooting, then retreating back behind the hill.
Our Shermans were getting into a sort of firing line.
My Sherman hit it four times in all,but all my shots bounced off its thick armour.
We stopped for lunch at this point, so I decided to let my crew out for a spot of tiffin too!
Phil now decided to advance and destroy the Challenger, ignoring us!
He was aware that having lost 2 dice permanently would make a victory for him unlikely.
He changed his mind and moved behind a stand of trees near the table edge.
He then turned to fend off his attackers.
We were continuing to hit his tank, but caused no damage.

The Challenger had not hit the Tiger yet, so it moved forward.
Even Lawrence now left the cover of the hill, and advanced.
Phil now got a few 'move' dice, and escaped off table!
And who could blame him!
It was a different game than usual, the mass of terrain made attacks difficult!
Fun was had, though!
