Sumerian revolt continues...

Today we had a foursome of players, so it was decided to continue our Midgard series of games set in ancient Sumeria.

Phil and Rhod had the Akkadians, while after losing with the Akkadians last game, I was given command of the Sumerian rebels, with Lawrence.

In this game I will not use Sumerian and Akkadian terms (NIM for Light infantry etc) NB: Even the term 'Sumerian' is incorrect, they called themselves 'sag̃-gíg'!

The table, with the Sumerians nearside in this picture.

I had my Commander in chief on my right, with 2 Spear units , some Slingers and my Battle carts in reserve.
I had the next brigade as well, 2 Spear units and Javelin skirmishers.
Lawrence, on my left had 3 Spear units in one command...
...and 2 more on our left, screened by Light Archers and Slingers.
Opposite Lawrence, Phil's right had 3 Spear units, and some Slingers.
His next command had 3 Spear units.
Rhod had the Akkadian King 2 spear units, some massed Archers. The Royal Axemen and his Battle carts, were in reserve.
Rhods left had 2 Spear units and a Bow plus a Javelin skirmisher units
Phil, being Phil, won the initiative for single combat, and sent his Champion forward, I sent my Champion to face him...
...for two rounds, the battle was even, and both sides gained Reputation!
In the third turn, my Champion slew his opponent! - and returned to his troops cheering!
The Akkadians, being drilled, pushed forward aggressively, my Slingers damaged the Akkadian Javelinmen.
The Akkadians sent their Archers through the orchard to threaten me.
On our left Lawrence's Archers began a shooting match with the Akkadian Slingers.
Phil moved ahead of Rhod's line, keen to get stuck in!
My Javelinmen were driven back by the Akkadian Bowmen, they would be unable to contribute much to the battle from now on!
Lawrence's Archers were driven back by the Akkadian Slingers, but without damage.
Lawrence brought his Slingers forward and the Akkadians were damaged by the massed Sumerian Lights.
In the centre, the Sumerian Spearmen charged in, though one of my units didn't reach!
My Slingers had fallen back to avoid being flanked, so I used a Spear unit to support them.
Mostly, the Sumerians were victorious, driving the Akkadians back!
I tried to use my Hero Traits, but with little effect!!
Lawrence had equal success, except in one place where the Akkadians beat his Spearmen back.
The Akkadians soon began turning the tables on the Sumerians, who were driven back in their turn!
On my right, my Spearmen were beaten and driven back on my Battle Cars, but fortunately with no adverse effects.
I attacked the Akkadian Javelinmen with my Spears, and caught them after a chase!
Lawrence managed to stabilise his left.
My Spearmen kept charging the Akkadian Bowmen, who beat me back twice!
Unfortunately the centre Spear unit which had been losing, finally broke.
My Spearmen got some revenge, routing the Akkad Javelinmen...my Slingers charged the Akkadian light Archers, who failed to evade.
On our left, an Akkadian Spear unit was destroyed by Lawrence's men.
The next unit broke, unfortunately. The Akkadians had a hole to exploit!
On my wing, I lost another Spear unit!
My Slingers destroyed the Archers, I had cleared the enemy left!
In Lawrence's centre, a second line Spear unit charged and broke and Akkadian unit.
My damaged right hand unit was saved by my Slingers who charged the Akkadians in flank!
My Battle Carts charged the weakened unit which had beaten my Spearmen, and caused the enemy to retreat.
Rhod charged my Spear unit with his own Battle Carts and routed them.
On our left, Lawrence used outflanking to destroy Phil's right.

My Slingers carried on into the Battle Cart fight and helped destroy the Akkadian Spear unit.
At this point, Phil announced he had run out of Reputation!
The result was the Akkadians had -1, we had 10! - with a lot of Hero charging!

That was a close game, even though the result was a major victory, and very hard fought, which, I suppose is how it should be!
