Today we had another go at the Trojan War with Midgard (and my Museum Miniatures 15mm armies)
The Achaeans had won our previous two clashes, so, after altering the Trojan list to make Lycians less fragile, at the cost of 2 traits, I was keen for revenge!
I had Lawrence with me and the Trojans, while Phil and Rhod took the Achaeans. The Achaeans had the initiative this game so were able to match my deployment.
The table at game start (Sorry the camera was a touch out of focus on a couple of pics!)
On my right, my Trojan Chariotry, with Aeneas and Polydamus.
In the centre I had Sarpedon with his Lycians and Thracians.
On the left Lawrence took Hector and Paris with the massed Trojan/Dardanian Spearmen and most of the Archers.
Facing Aeneas, Achilles with the Chariots (Instead of his Myrmidons)
In the Greek centre, Agamemnon and Odysseus...and the Myrmidons!, on the left Diomedes.
The Achaean Spearmen kept back, only advancing slowly.
Diomedes decided to send his Bowmen into the woods, no surprise!
Nice and safe in there...so far!
Hector stayed back too, happy to let the flanks decide the battle.
Phil kept his Chariots back - letting his supporting Archers advance round the flank.
My archers flanked the Myrmidons and caused damage!
Lawrence had Paris engage the Greek Archers.
Both centres were just happy glaring at each other!
Achilles' archers tried to harass my Chariotry, but failed.
My Archers died as they failed to evade and got run down by Achilles' Chariots...but this allowed my Chariots to get into theirs.
On our left, the battle for the woods continued.
The Achaean Spearmen advanced to support their Chariots.
Sadly (for me!) Phil got all Achilles' Chariotry to countercharge.
On my left, Aeneas' Chariots were driven back, a draw ensued in the centre, but on my right Polydamus' Chariots destroyed their opposite numbers.
Our Infantry moved slightly forward to support my Chariots too.
Sill no change in the Archery battle in the woods, having Paris helped the Trojans as they tried to dislodge the Greeks.
Phil moved his archers round my flank and forced my victorious Chariots to fall back.
At least in the centre my Chariots began to beat the Greek ones.
My right side Chariots tried to charge the Greek Archers, but they evaded. In my centre Chariot battle my unit destroyed the Greeks! things were looking better, even Achilles hadn't broken Aeneas' unit.
The Greek Archers flanked my Chariots, and damaged them at last! Aeneas' Chariots won, destroying Achilles' unit!
In my centre, the Myrmidons destroyed one of my Lycian units
My two Chariot units assaulted the Myrmidons from two sides.
Lawrence (Paris) had finally come out on top, a final volley killed the last Greek unit!
Sarpedon and Hector attacked the Greek line.
My Thracian and Lycian units destroyed the Achaean Spearmen they faced, unfortunately a second unit charged Lawrence (Hectors) Spearmen too.
Achilles had joined his Myrmidons against my Chariots, while another Greek Spear unit destroyed my flanking Chariot unit, things suddenly looked ropey!
The Myrmidons had suffered damage before, and succumbed to Aeneas' Chariots. Polydamus, having nothing to command, hid behind the Lycians!.
Achilles bravely stayed to fight the Trojan Chariots, and did well, but lost.
On our left, the Trojan and Dardanian Spearmen were in the ascendancy.
The Achaeans had tried to transfer their rear line to help their left, but Hector and Sarpedon were cutting through the disjointed Greek line.
I was...nicely surprised when I was told we had won, having +3 Reputation to the Achaeans -3!
Finally, the Trojans had driven the Achaeans back towards their ships! All credit goes to Lawrence, who helped me use my units to their best advantage!
