Testing our Honour

Today, we had our first two games of 'Test of Honour' a Samurai skirmish games by 'Grey for Now' games.

We did basically the first two scenarios from the rules...

The First game...This was a test game with a few figures which Phil and Rhod played (Lawrence has played v1 before Covid and I have read the rules)

The terrain, and situation after turn 1 The Oda (yellow Sashimono) and Shimazu (red Sashimono) were both moving towards the shrine and cover as bullets and arrows flew!

The Oda were weathering the fire well!...so far.
The Shimazu also had taken no hits yet.
They had left their archer to slow the Oda troops.
The Oda Arquebusier fired at his opposite number and missed.
The Shimazu return shot killed an Oda  Ashigaru spearman.
Failing their test of nerve, the survivors withdrew!
The Oda Samurai hero attacked the Shimazu one.
The Shimazu Samurai gave ground...
...then the Oda Samurai stumbled and fell!
He was soon on his feet though. and retreated round the shrine.
The Shimazu went the other way and attacked the Oda Arquebusier.
A fair strike by the Shimazu Lord!
The rest of the Shimazu began coming round after the Oda Lord...
...but returned to the woods as he came back waving his Katana!
Both Samurai ran back to the front of the shrine where the final strike by the Shimazu Samurai felled his opponent, and ended the game.

Game 2: We tried a slightly larger game this time based on the second scenario.
I deployed the Shimazu Samurai and an Ashigaru Archer, the rest of our forces were off table.
The Oda (Phil and Rhod) were on the opposite edge, trying to occupy 3 objective counters in the Shrine precincts.
With no sign of our reinforcements, my Samurai Lord was soon involved in a fight with two Oda ones.
I managed to wound the Oda Lord...
...but I too soon got a leg wound.
Lawrence had finally managed to get some spearmen and his Arquebusier on.
His second unit of spears was held off by some Oda ones.
Rhoderick's Samurai finally overwhelmed me and I was cut down by a critical hit...
He then cut down Lawrence's Samurai, again with a critical hit.
The next follow up saw him cut down one of the following Ashigaru!
With most of our best troops felled, the rest of the Shimazu went home!!!

I think everyone enjoyed the games and I think we all have the rules down now. Next time we will introduce Honour and Skill cards.
